About
Hawk Resources Limited (ASX: HWK; previously Alderan Resources, ASX: ‘AL8’) listed on the Australian Securities Exchange in June 2017, focusing on copper and gold exploration in the USA and scandium in Western Australia. Our Board and executive team have decades of mineral exploration experience including multi-commodity discoveries in both junior and major resource companies around the world.
The Company has a dual-track growth strategy, focusing on scandium exploration in Western Australia through its Olympus project and copper in the USA, through the Cactus & Meerkat projects. The Company is currently drilling at the Cactus copper project and is completing the necessary processes to survey the highly prospective and potentially scalable scandium project in West Musgrave, WA.
Cactus & Meerkat are located in Tier 1 mining jurisdictions. Utah and Arizona have world-class copper and base metal mines—Bingham Canyon, Mission, Copper World, and Hermosa. Both projects are supported by excellent infrastructure, near roads, power, rail and operating copper mines.
Historically, the Cactus Mine delivered 1.3 Mt @ 2.0% Cu, 0.33 g/t Au (1905–1920); Meerkat’s Santo Nino mined grades of 7-8% Cu, 1% Mo (1912-55). The district has significant upside, with multiple targets in the 1km Cactus Corridor zone plus Meerkat’s Santo Nino magnetic anomaly & Benton district. Recent Cactus drilling results have highlighted strong copper, 80m @ 0.48% Cu from surface including 19.6m @ 1.25% Cu in hole DD26CT003.
Olympus is a large-scale scandium project in WA’s West Musgrave region with granted exploration licences, an executed Native Title Agreement, and a completed Cultural Heritage Survey with Traditional Owners. The project consists of a large-scale +500 ppm Sc pXRF lag soil anomaly covering ~7 km × 4 km plus near surface RAB drilling intersections confirming potential. It is potentially one of the few scalable scandium projects globally — well placed to benefit from a market with no primary mines and rising demand in aerospace, auto, defence, fuel cells and 5G/6G networks.
The Company now has all government approvals in place to enable exploration to commence at the Olympus scandium project following the receipt of consent from the West Australian Minister for Mines. A Mining Entry Permit (MEP) from the West Australian Minister for Aboriginal Affairs plus an Agreement for Mineral Exploration (AME) and a Cultural Heritage Survey (Survey) with the Ngaanyatjarra Traditional Owners are already in place for the project. Exploration at Olympus, located in the West Musgrave region of Western Australia, is now planned to commence in September. It will consist of soil and rock sampling within the 80km² priority area with the objective of fast-tracking a RAB drilling programme to test high-potential targets.
The Company also has a portfolio of lithium projects in Minas Gerais and Bahia, Brazil, providing a future growth pipeline. The Minas Gerais projects are located in the state’s ‘Lithium Valley’ district within Brazil’s Eastern Lithium Belt, which is home to lithium producers and 40 of Brazil’s top 100 mines. Hawk’s initial sampling has identified lithium and rare earth anomalies ranging up to 10 times background grades in the Itambacuri, Carai and Itaipe project areas.
